About the Band

Formed in Knoxville, Tennessee in 2020, Violet Courtyard is an alternative band blending dreamy indie-pop melodies with a modern alternative rock edge. The group is composed of Ajay Kidd (lead vocals, guitar, bass, and synth), Brennan Cheatwood (producer, mixing/mastering engineer, and drummer), and Harrison Southard (drummer and production assistant). Together, they craft immersive soundscapes that balance heartfelt lyricism with vibrant, layered production.

Drawing inspiration from artists like Far Caspian, Homes at Night, Yot Club, Dayglow, and Wallows, Violet Courtyard’s music delivers an authentic, emotional energy while maintaining an indie-inspired aesthetic. Their debut LP, Violet Courtyard (released November 29, 2024), introduced listeners to a carefully curated collection of tracks, including fan-favorite singles like “Soulglow”, “Alarming”, “I Don’t Want You”, and “Dearest Friend.” Currently, the band is preparing for intimate live shows across East Tennessee while continuing to experiment with new sounds in the studio. Violet Courtyard is defined by creativity, authenticity, and connection - crafting music that resonates with listeners who seek something both nostalgic and refreshingly modern.
